How Do You Know That You're Mentally Tough?
You are not mentally tough until you have to perform at your very best when you are feeling your worst. Concentrate instead on what you have to do to get the job done.
As a football coach we had a sign in our locker room which said, "When the going gets tough, the tough get going." If you played any sports you probably have seen that sign. Believe it, because it works.
So you want to be mentally tough! You will never realize your full potentional unless you challenge yourself. When you do this you dig deeper and stretch yourself farther than you have ever gone before. Never think about quitting.
Those of you who truly want success are highly competitive types. You know what you want and you go after it. You have developed the winning habit because of your preparation. You are mentally tough.
No! Quitting sounds easy but it isn't. If you have not sacrificed, it will be easier to quit because you will have little to lose. If you don't have lots of pride or take time to develop it, it'll be easier for you to quit because you'll have little motivation to win.
A quick way to become a loser is to want to win so badly that you are afraid to lose. When this happens you get very cautious and you fail to reach your full potential. You tense up, get anxious and lose.
If you are content with the best you have done, you will never be the best you can be. You must change your present thought processes.
Nobody is a winner all the time. You do not have to like losing when it happens. A winner will turn around and look for the reason it happened and correct it.
