Undo the Vundo! - Trojan.VUNDO Attack on PC

A few days ago my PC suffered an attack that threatended to escalate. My PC became compromised just before Christmas. I wondered whether my passwords and credit card details would be stolen. Fortunately I found a fix for the problem.

The main symptom of the attack was the inability to use Windows Updates. Also the main antivirus software that I use (Norton antivirus) appeared to know that the trojan.VUNDO was present. It reported a fix, but almost immediately this was overturned and the problem reverted.

Your computer could be farmed for sensitive information, such as credit card details and passwords. A criminal knows that if a PC is cut off from software support, either antivirus or operating system, he can exploit that at his leisure.

If security updates are disabled, it is like a bank that has its alarm system cut off. You ignore it at your peril, even if the computer is nomal in every other way.

In this case not only was the automatic updates of Windows knocked out. Also the ability to access Windows security downloads manually was disabled. This severely handicaps your ability to fix the problem. You are effectively cut off from base. Your operating system provider cannot help you.

Another way had to be found around this problem. I searched Windows forums and discussion groups and soon came across a solution. It was a software package called Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware 1.31 and it can be found at http://www.malwarebytes.org/. It fixed the problem quickly and has the advantage that it is free.

Updates are brought out every few days so the supplier is responding to the latest threats very rapidly. There are also paid versions which are even more powerfull.

Malware, including viruses, trojans and worms, is under a state of continual development by criminals, whose objective is to basically rake off money from the unsuspecting Internet community. It is good to know comapnies like Malwarebytes are out there fighting them. They certainly knew how to undo the vundo attack I experienced!

The Internet, how far we have come with the technology as it has become a major part of our lives. Communication with friends and family from all over the world, shopping for clothes and groceries, downloading multimedia files and the convenience of paying online bills.

In the past, surfing the World Wide Web was considered safe. But now, because of damaging viruses and malicious software, such as spyware or adware circulating through various Websites, every user must take precaution when surfing the Internet.

Our computer is where we store our personal information, our photos, our videos, where we can pay our online bills, purchase that gift online but with spyware, if our computers are infected, our privacy has literally been invaded. Can you image if someone came to your home and without you knowing, just observing your daily life and going through your computer data and sending that data to someone in another city or some part of the world. The thought of it is unimaginable but it's happening.

Along with millions of Internet users, I have used the Internet to buy from an online shopping store, used the Internet to pay for a bill or to verify things in my bank account but the thought that spyware and adware can be in my personal computer, recording everything I type on my keyboard.

Spyware alone can effectively record everything you type into your keyboard, this includes user names and passwords. With the information accumulated, the spyware will send the data to a person who developed the program via e-mail without you knowing. Even if you changed your password frequently, if the spyware is part of your operating system, changing passwords will prove ineffective because each change of information will still be sent to the spyware creator without you knowing.

Another offensive program that has become quite annoying on the Internet is adware. Have you ever opened up your Internet browser and it looked it different. Somehow something has been installed. Or perhaps you keep getting these pop-up advertising windows that just won't stop. No matter how many times you close them and reset your computer. This is adware and similar to spyware, it's now in your system.

And another frustration is that both adware and spyware can really reduce the performance of your computer. If you had a computer that ran quickly but now all of a sudden has become so sluggish that you literally have to wait even longer to access it, there is a big chance that you have adware and spyware on your computer. And remember, because these software are not viruses, anti-virus software will not detect these malicious files.

One program that I found effective in detecting spyware and adware is a software called NoAdware Spyware Remover Software. Hundreds of people have used this product with a high satisfaction rating. In fact, I made sure to read many of the user reviews and overall, NoAdware Spyware Remover Software suggests a high satisfaction rating.

In fact, not only does this software detect and remove adware and spyware but for anyone trying to install these malicious software in the future, NoAdware Spyware Remover Software blocks and prevents any installation of this software in the future. No more pop-up banner advertisements, no more sluggish computer and most of all, no more adware and spyware.

And to rid of these menacing adware and spyware is one of the best software that hundreds of users have used to eliminate them and that is the NoAdware Spyware Remover Software. No more worrying about malicious software ever again.

Getting Rid of Computer Viruses - The Facts

Whether you use your computer for work in the office, or for relaxation in the family home, computers are susceptible to viruses. It is tough to rid a computer of a virus once it has become infected, and even then it is even tougher if you know little about computer systems.

There are a variety of computer viruses in the world today, but for all of them, their main objective is to damage your computer programs and software. It is possible that the virus could change or delete the files that you have on your computer. The machine is infected by the virus by way of linking itself to freeware software, e-mails or programs installed on your machine. Installation and opening of these applications is what causes the virus to contaminate your system.

The names and types of viruses are changing quite rapidly and it can be hard to spot which files could be corrupted by a virus, unless you are very computer savvy. It is best to have an internet security software package installed on your system. This software will aid you in identifying potential viruses that have, or want to invade your computer.

There are many security measure software programs available on the market. You can either buy in the high street, or online. Some are free but most involve purchasing the software. Once this software is installed, it can do things such as conduct a daily scan to help track and prevent incoming viruses. Installing one of the programs that performs scans can help stop the virus application from being installed and opened, thus preventing the virus from infecting your files.

If you try to get rid of viruses without a specialized software, it is very difficult indeed, if not impossible. With the right software installed on your system, cleansing your computer of viruses is much simpler. The program will find the virus and quarantine it so that it cannot do any damage to your computer; it intercepts the virus by recognizing the patterns given out by the virus itself.

For satisfactory removal of any viruses on your computer system, it is best to use tools that have been described above. You may find some on the high street, but the majority will be found at online internet sites. You may be able to download trial versions of virus scanning software from many of the websites.

A virus infecting your computer system is a serious and hazardous problem. This is why it is best to put all security procedures in place on your system before irretrievable damage can occur.

It's no mystery that these days you need to protect your computer from viruses and spyware if you are connected to the internet. There are a lot of different options out there - let's take a look at what you need to look for the make sure you are using the best anti-spyware program for your computer.

It's essential that you protect you computer from spyware and adware if you are connected to the internet. Without a proper anti-spyware program, you put your personal information and computer's performance speed at risk.

Here are some features that we recommend looking for in a spyware remover:

1) Ability to detect and destroy all forms of spyware

The term "spyware" consists of a lot of different types of infections. You have to look out for keyloggers, robots, browser hijackers, worms, dialers - There's far too many to list here!

You don't need to know what all of these are, but you have to make sure your spyware remover does!

Look for a program that seeks and destroys all of these malicious programs and is able to clear them from your system.

2) Automatic Updates

There are new types of spyware hitting the internet each day. It's vital that your anti-spyware program knows how to detect and destroy these new infections otherwise your computer will be left vulnerable.

You need to find a program that features "automatic updates" - this means that it always keeps up with the latest spyware definitions and knows exactly which infections it needs to protect your computer from.

3) Automatic Full System Scans

One of my faults is that I'm just plain forgetful!

It might sound like a little thing, but having a program that automatically scans your computer for spyware each week is an important feature. Instead of you having to remember to open up the program and run a system scan, the program will automatically do it based on a pre-set schedule that you decide on (I recommend a weekly scan).

4) Solid customer support

Now let's be realistic for a moment - spyware removers aren't something that require a lot of technical support with. They pretty much run themselves. However I like to know the option is there in case I ever need it.

I want to see that the company that makes the software stands behind the product and cares enough about their customers to offer prompt, efficient customer service. It's a little touch that shows their commitment to delivering a quality product.

I like to know I have email support whenever I need it, and I love to see a "live chat" feature where you can get instant support if need be.

You can use the link at the bottom of this article to read reviews on the top-ranked spyware removers out there. The reviewers looked closely at the support that each product offers. It might not neccessarilly be something you use, but it says a lot about the company behind the program.

When you go hunting for an anti-spyware program, look for these four features so that you know you are using the most effective spyware protection available. You absolutely must defend your system from spyware these days - following these steps lets you surf the net without any worries. Good luck!

The advent of wireless connections allows everyone to check email, send important files and check their facebook account from anyplace on the globe creating a moving office.

If you are one of the mobile millions, Laptop Security should be a number one priority. I got an email recently from a well known internet marketer who had just gone through the numbing horror of having his laptop stolen. His was actually stolen from his hotel room during the night while he was sleeping.

There are sensitive and important volumes of information on your laptop. Contact databases for business and personal use, digital photographs, credit card data and more are probably all stored on your personal notebook. If your laptop is stolen, so is your identity and the identity of your business. Identity theft is plaguing the globe which is why securing your laptop computer is imperative.

Today, laptops are more common and more portable than ever. Those old 6 pound plus marvels have given way to gaming notebooks, tablet PCs, business notebooks and mini laptops with very affordable price points. The advent of Wi-Fi allows us to be super connected and we love it. But so do the criminals. It has become easier for criminals to steal not just the equipment but the information on the equipment. The information is what you need to protect from would be thieves.

There is hope. Laptop Security is within reach when you know what tools are available. There are simple measures like password protection or cable locks but this is just the tip of the iceberg. Both software and hardware solutions for laptop security are out there. The best option is prevention of theft to begin with.

If you own or plan to buy a portable computer, you need to know how to protect it and the information it contains.
Spyware: The Lurking Danger On Your Computer

It is not always possible to know whether or not your laptop or computer has become affected by spyware since such malicious programs are something that remain in the background and go about their business in the shadows without letting you become aware that a problem exists with your personal computer or laptop.

Be Aware

Most of us are not even aware about what damage such software can do to your system and you may also not be aware of preventive measures to help block the presence of spyware, which makes matters worse. It is therefore necessary to look a little deeper into the problem and know what spyware actually is and how you can prevent it from disrupting the proper working of your system.

Spyware are essentially computer programs that plant themselves on your computer's hard disk and are known to come in different flavors and types, and they can also even jot down your browsing activities. These programs are able to also send such information to third parties while others will note down your keystrokes and then send sensitive information to people that should not have access to such sensitive information.

Certain types of spyware that are known as keyloggers can steal your password as well as username and provide this information to those who will take unfair advantage of that information. The internet is the most common way of getting spyware on your system--often when downloading software or other programs.

However, not all spyware is actually dangerous--it is nevertheless an unwanted risk that can do damage to your system. Your best bet would be to use certain specialized programs that are designed to identify and then rid your system of such unwanted intruders, because it has become necessary that you learn how to protect your computer.

One such computer program is the one known as Spybot which can help you keep your system free and your personal information well protected. You need to be aware of certain kinds of spyware that will try and fool you into thinking that they are actually anti-spyware programs when in fact they are not.

It would pay to look at the possibility of using spyware blockers to fight the threat posed by spyware. Of course, some spyware won't do anything malicious though others will try and do harm. It pays to ensure that you don't take risks and use whatever means are available to prevent your system from becoming corrupted by spyware.

Spyzooka - Is It Worth It?

Spyzooka has not always been the best. There was a time when it was younger that it was just an average program. However, with the recent updates, it has skyrocketed to the top of the anti-spyware software list. The entire overhaul has made the system work better and more efficient than anything else available. Spyzooka picked up on a lot of malicious content that some programs often regarded as the best missed out on during our tests.

SpyZooka offers a great amount of protection from malicious content. No one program will detect everything, but Spyzooka gets more than the competition. The real time protection also did a very good job protecting our systems.

The settings are among the most user friendly you will find. You do not have to be a computer expert at all to understand exactly how to get Spyzooka set up and optimized for your needs. The easiest way to do it is to set Spyzooka to scan at a certain time every day as well as update every day, then you just sit back and relax. Their Help System was the best around as well. It includes images to aid you in case you need a visual example of anything.

Since the updates, there are no bad aspects about the way the program works itself. Although it is not a big deal, the physical looks are very unappealing. This doesn't hurt the quality, but it looking lower in quality than the other programs makes it feel a little lower in quality... even though this is not the case

Spyzooka even takes the cake for best name! Every time I say it, I think about a little Green Beret sneaking around in my computer taking the malicious content by storm. Even though that may not be the case, it sure feels like it after I get done running a scan! The bottom line is that Spyzooka took anti-spyware to a whole new level and currently is the only program playing on that level.

Using Google as a research aide for her thesis on money laundering was a common occurrence of one individual law school student. As you can imagine, this was definitely a great tool to her in the process of writing her thesis. To her dismay, her method began to break down when she typed in key terms and they led her to an annoying website not pertinent to money laundering at all

A search engine glitch, or a problem with the internet connection, would not have explained the reoccurring nature of the glitch and therefore, she was certain she had been bugged. It is human nature to not enjoy being bugged, but when the offenders come in the form of other humans, we can fend them off. In contrast, the law school student was faced with adware and spyware bugs, whose attacks are difficult to fend off. The law school student was definitely not an advanced student of technology, as she typically only used her computer for school related purposes of research and writing.

Unfortunately, her case was incredibly common, as there are many people who fall prey to harmful and annoying problems known as spyware and adware. Used sparingly since its initial conception in 1995, 'spyware' as a term became a more popular term staring in 2000. This name refers to software programs or scripts that can infiltrate a personal computer and access a user's personal information.

This can be done through studying keystrokes, logging web browsing activities, and perhaps most worrying of all, the contents stored on a user's hard drive. Though spy-ware employs the kind of methodology that sounds like it came out of a James Bond movie, anyone can be a victim. These attacks violate basic computer privacy through monitoring a user's personal data, and therefore calling the people affected by them victims is highly appropriate.

Spyware may help track criminals and their activities, but this type of program is used far more often for such vile activities as tracking credit card information from unsuspecting victims. Anti-spyware programs that are kept updated are essential for any computer user.

As they are similarly harmful programs, malware and ad-ware should be blocked along with spyware. Online adware and spy-ware blocker programs are easily available to help in this endeavor. These programs both remove and disable existing bugs and help prevent the future installation of similar malicious software.

Though they are not self replicating like viruses or worms, spy-ware, ad-ware and malware can be equally annoying to computer users who do not like their interferences with their daily routines. Frequently, the 'harmless' spying can result in slowing down the entire computer system so that running the system or any of its programs takes forever. Nothing is worse than a crime that goes without punishment, but many spyware programs are able to evade detection. Because of the nasty nature of the infiltration programs, it is always best to have a great blocker to prevent the infections from happening.

Dont wait! You Need protection Now. Today! Once you have found a Program that suits you, install it and let it do its job, relieving your mind and allowing you problem-free use of your PC. Go to a Review Page for Anti Spyware programs, check out whats recommended, and go get it.
